FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Should I wait until the end of the quarter/semester to enroll my student?

If your student is currently failing, it would be better to get them somewhere where they can succeed. If you wait until the end of the quarter or semester, those failing grades will be part of their official transcript that will follow them into college. If they need to catch up, time is of the essence.

  • How much does it cost to send my child to Fieldstone Academy?

The cost of sending your child to a boarding school is usually far less than sending him to a residential treatment center, and unless he or she has criminal or drug-abuse problems, a boarding school will probably produce a more worthwhile result. We have parents tell us that we are far less expensive than other programs and schools they have seen, but no system that offers what we offer will be cheap. We can guarantee that we will make it work even when no other school can.

We offer a limited number of scholarships each year based on need and merit. None of our scholarships pay for the full tuition costs, but they do usually allow students to attend that would not have been able to otherwise. Please contact us for information regarding eligibility.

  • Is financing available?

Yes. We have partnered with an excellent financing institution with very reasonable interest rates and excellent acceptance policies. Please contact us for application instructions. With our focus on student success and our financing partnerships we are able to help many who would not otherwise be able to afford a boarding school like ours.

  • How is your school accredited?

We are fully accredited through The Northwest Accreditation Commission, formerly the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools. They recently changed their name due to a copyright dispute.

The Northwest Accreditation Commission is one of the nation's six acknowledged accreditation agencies. The geographic territory of the Association consists of the states of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Washington, and other worldwide geographical areas designated from time to time by the Board of Trustees.

To look up our accreditation, you may do either of the following:

1. Follow this link to the Northwest Accreditation Commission website, click on School Search, and search for "Field stone academy." (the space between Field and stone is required for their search) Due to their name change, their site is still under construction.

2. To view the Utah State Office of Education's list of accredited schools, you should follow the link below, and scroll down to page 141. The State monitors and reviews each school to ensure accreditation standards are met.

  • Is yours a lock-down facility?

Of course not. Unlike institutions focused primarily on keeping young people away from society, we focus instead on education and life experiences. Our students are supervised while in school and during activities, but they are not kept in a solitary or locked-down environment.

  • What is the average length of enrollment at your school?

The average length of enrollment is a nine-month school year. Some stay for multiple years, while others need only a few months of help before they can return home.

  • Where is your school located?

Our school is located in the city of Gunnison, Utah. Auxiliary locations are in Richfield, Utah.

  • Will I be allowed to contact my child while he is at your school?

Yes. The simple fact is that you as a parent will have years of influence on your child while we will only have your child with us for a small amount of time. Our mission is to help your child with their educational needs, and without your involvement and support we have a much smaller chance for success.

  • Who will know that I have contacted you or have my child in your school?

Your privacy is very important to us. All information either about you or your child will be kept confidential.

  • What should I do if I have more questions?

Please feel free to contact us at any time by email or at our toll-free number. Our helpful and friendly staff would be glad to answer your questions.
